Operational Details
Large truck-mounted vacuum systems are used to clean furnace ducts, using lengths of hose, that are placed into the duct work, which sucks out debris and dust that accumulates in the ductwork system. The driver of the truck may perform the service or a helper may assist in cleaning the ducts. When the vacuum tank is full, it is dumped in a sanitary fill, or bagged and disposed of.

Furnace cleaning is usually undertaken by power vacuum operators, but if done as a specialized service, the furnace filters are not only cleaned, but the furnace motor may be lubricated. In addition, small repairs may be made including the incidental repair and replacement of wiring, and adapting the furnace to accept another type of filter. Major repairs and motor replacement are undertaken by furnace repair employers.
