Average weekly wage means the average weekly wage of the industrial composite for Saskatchewan as determined by the board for a year from information published by Statistics Canada (Section 2).

To set the minimum average weekly earnings for workers who receive benefits for at least 24 consecutive months.
DEFINITION
BACKGROUND
- Each year, the WCB reviews the minimum average earnings of a worker injured on or after January 1, 1980 (Section 70(5)).
- Starting January 1, 1983, minimum average weekly earnings are not to be less than two-thirds of the average weekly wage as of June the year before the benefit review for any worker who is:
- Injured on or after January 1, 1980, and
- Is in receipt of benefits for at least 24 consecutive months.
- It is the board’s intent that if the average weekly wage for the current year is less than the average weekly wage for the previous year, there will be no adjustment.
- The provincial average weekly wage (seasonally adjusted) as of June 2025 was $1,261.34.
PROCEDURE
Effective January 1, 2026, the minimum average weekly earnings for any worker who is:
a. Injured on or after January 1, 1980, and
b. Is in receipt of benefits for a period of at least 24 consecutive months, will not be less than $840.89.
