WCB legislation change effective Jan. 1, 2025 adjusts the way directors of corporations report worker wages
The definition of a worker has changed under The Workers’ Compensation Act, 2013. Directors receiving wages reported on a T4 are no longer be included in the definition of a worker. As a result, directors of a corporation are no longer be considered workers and no longer have automatic WCB coverage.

Employer appeals
Get details on the appeal process for employers, what information and forms you need to file an appeal, how to appoint someone to act on your behalf and how to request information. There are two aspects to an employer appeal: appealing a decision on your worker’s injury claim and appealing a decision on your employer account.
The WCB is committed to making decisions that are fair, reasonable and correct. We want to make sure you understand the reasons for our decisions. We know that sometimes you may not agree with a decision we make and we want to help.
It is important that you know your rights when it comes to questioning a decision made on your worker’s injury claim that may affect you as an employer, or a decision on your employer account. We will make every attempt to resolve disagreements whenever possible.
There are two aspects to an employer appeal: appealing a decision on your worker’s injury claim and appealing a decision on your employer account.

- Education on disability prevention, return to work, effective claims management and appeals.
- Support and advice to determine whether the employer has a legitimate appealable situation.

- Guiding the employer through the process of drafting and filing a WCB appeal where necessary.
- The Employer Advisory Centre will not provide employers with representation services at an appeals tribunal.
