Every year, WorkSafe Saskatchewan formally recognizes a worker and an employer committed to injury prevention and safety leadership through our annual Safe Worker and Safe Employer Awards.
Worker involvement is key to creating healthy and safe workplaces. Every year, workers across Saskatchewan help to save lives and reduce injuries and illnesses by identifying hazards and introducing new safety initiatives. Workers who care about safety create better work environments, healthier and safer workforces and more profitable businesses.
WorkSafe Saskatchewan, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour and the Saskatchewan Safety Council, sponsors the Safe Worker Award to highlight the important contribution workers make to eliminating or reducing injuries and illnesses in the workplace. This award recognizes an individual who has shown an exemplary commitment to workplace health and safety.
We strongly encourage every occupational health and safety committee, Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) representative or small-sized employer to nominate someone from their workplace.
In Saskatchewan, the most progressive organizations recognize the importance of protecting their most valuable resource – their workforce. These organizations actively strive to create healthier and safer workplaces by implementing systematic safety management programs.
The leaders of these organizations view safety management as an integral part of their success and sustainability. They commit to continual improvement and evaluation of their safety management systems in response to both internal and external circumstances.
To celebrate these best practice employers, WorkSafe Saskatchewan in conjunction with the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering and the Saskatchewan Safety Council developed a Safe Employer Award.
We strongly encourage occupational health and safety committees and their employers to apply for this award. Learn more about the Safe Employer Award and view the application on the WorkSafe Saskatchewan website
