Why your worker’s wage information is important
A worker's wage information is important for earnings loss (also called wage-loss) payments.
The Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) requires wage information from a worker’s employer to provide earnings loss (also called wage-loss) benefits as per WCB policy, PRO 35/2024, Establishing Initial Wage Base. The WCB uses the information an employer provides as the primary source to calculate a worker's benefits. In rare instances, the WCB will contact the worker if the employer has been unable to share wage information. To calculate the wage benefit for a worker, we need this information:
- The regular rate of pay earned by the worker at the start of earnings loss.
- The average of the worker’s gross earnings before the start of earnings loss.
- The periods the worker was unavailable to work.
- The worker’s probable deductions for income tax, Canada Pension Plan (CPP) premiums and Employment Insurance (EI) premiums.
