When a worker is injured as a result of a workplace injury, family members can get support from the WCB, as outlined in The Workers’ Compensation Act, 2013. If child care costs are higher than they were before the worker’s injury, the WCB may pay temporary child care expenses to allow a parent to:
- Travel to see the worker in the hospital or take the worker to treatment or rehabilitation centre visits related to the work injury
- Be at the hospital to be with an injured husband, wife or partner.
