Regina, Sask., Feb. 20, 2020 – The Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) is announcing today that Crystal Nett will join the organization in the role of chief financial officer (CFO) and vice-president of corporate services. Nett will join the WCB on Feb. 24, 2020, taking over from Ann Schultz, who is retiring after eight years of dedicated service to the organization. Schultz will stay on briefly in a consultative role during the transition period.

“We are thrilled to be able to smoothly transition from one exceptional leader to another,” said the WCB’s chief executive officer Phil Germain. “I look forward to Crystal building on the excellent work done by Ann and her team in ensuring financial stability through leading effective financial capital review processes and improving the service we provide to employers and workers across the province.”

Nett brings a wealth of executive leadership experience to the WCB, having served in senior leadership roles with both Saskatchewan Polytechnic (Sask Polytech) and Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC). Most recently, she was the associate vice-president of strategy at Sask Polytech.

Prior to that, Nett was the chief financial officer for 17 of her 21 years at SRC, with responsibility for finance, procurement, legal, health and safety, and enterprise risk management. Before she joined SRC, she was an audit manager with KPMG.

In addition to the work-related education and experience Nett brings to the WCB, she is also a certified director of the Institute of Corporate Directors and an associate certified coach of the International Coach Federation.

“We look forward to Crystal bringing her broad range of experience to our leadership team,” said Germain. “As an organization, we will continue to offer the care, attention, planning and management of the financial resources that have been entrusted to us to maintain the compensation system in Saskatchewan. It is through strong leadership and an engaged workforce that we will continue on the path towards fulfilling our vision of eliminating injuries and restoring abilities.”
