Operational Details
Aid societies, community and social service organizations offer a variety of services that provide physical, emotional and moral support to various groups in the community such as people with disabilities, seniors, etc. These employers may also provide counseling and other services to those in need, i.e. battered persons, delinquent youths, those with drug or alcohol addictions. Services may also include temporary accommodations.

Community associations are formed by volunteer residents of an area to support the social, educational and recreational needs of the neighborhood, build connections in the neighborhood through volunteer opportunities, organize community events, provide recreation programming and represent the community on civic affairs, planning and development opportunities. A community centre may also plan, develop and maintain community facilities and amenities such as community gardens and skating rinks. Membership is optional.

Home support services may provide personal care or assisted living services to convalescing individuals and/or those no longer able to provide full care for themselves. Services may include personal care or grooming services such as bathing, meal preparation, etc.

Some community organizations provide temporary housing for men and women in a hostel type of environment. These organizations support the communities by offering social programs that promote life skills training and other assistance services to support independent living.
