Operational Details
A pumpjack is an artificial lifting apparatus that is installed on the top of a well bore. Using a pump engine,. Usually gas or electrically powered, and through the use of a hydraulic system, lifts crude oil to the surface where it is directed to storage tanks or through a pipeline to the refinery or pump station.
A service workers make field calls, ensuring the pump is operating properly. Daily representative maintenance programs may be carried out. However, any breakdowns or repair work is contracted out to an oilfield maintenance business who has the tools and expertise.
Workers in the field read meters and instruments connected to oil production. The instruments may also give clues as to other problems that may be occurring such as a drop in wellhead and downhole pressure.
Reduced production could very well be the result of paraffin wax building up in the wellbore. When this occurs, the employer or worker contacts the operator or owner of the well and may arrange to have a wireline business clean the paraffin out of the line.
This type of operation is very similar to the operation of batteries and oilwell pumping services.
