Employers in this business operate out of warehouse facilities with a store front. A front counter and display area are common. A major sales component is travelling out to the oilpatch or to refineries and gas plants to market the products.

Equipment sold includes downhole pumps, submersible pumps, pumpjacks and pumpjack engines, valves, fittings, compressors, air tools etc. An oilfield equipment and supply store will also sell a variety of products that are used in oilfield construction and maintenance. Included are items used to replace factory originals, or replacement parts needed to maintain and repair of equipment.
