Operational Details
Manufacturing usually means assembling components received from suppliers. This involves soldering, screwing or bolting pieces into place to form the finished products. This is not an assembly line production, where full-time staff are employed. The same workers who install and/or service also assemble the components in the shop. The assembly is usually undertaken in conjunction with the sale.

Electrical fixtures include garage door openers and motors, residential electric heaters etc. Gas related fixtures includes gas stoves and fireplace sales etc. These are retail stores and do not install the products sold. The customer purchases and installs the item, or is referred to a contractor who will install the fixture for them. Usually it is a plumber, gas fitter, or electrician who performs this work.

Repair and service is also undertaken at the customer’s residence, or place of business. Employers may also operate out of a shop that has a storage capacity, where parts and components are kept. Service vans carry the necessary hand tools and testing devices. Some preventative maintenance contracts may also be entered into.
