Stationery and book stores sell items such as, but not limited to; books, paper, calendars, magazines, instructional books, board games and toys. Some book stores have included the sale of small electronic devices, such as ereaders. Stores that sell school supplies specialize in offering educational books and supplies to assist teachers, parents and learners.
Jewellery shops specialize in selling precious metals and stones that are set into rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. Much of the jewellery will have precious stones inset. Jewellers design and make up special order items for their customers. The sale and repair of watches and clocks are also part of their business. Silver and gold plated dinnerware and the more expensive ornaments are also sold. Engraving may also be done by the jeweller. Occasionally, used gold items or precious stones and metals are purchased by the jeweller from the general public, which can be melted down or restored and sold retail. Grinding, cutting and specialized propane and butane torches may be used in manufacturing or repairing items. Jeweller’s tools are small and often repairs require the use of a magnifying glass.

The gallery sells and receives a commission from the artist, personal artwork may also be sold. Private galleries are different from public galleries in that the public ones charge a fee for entering and observing the art work; Private galleries earn their revenue from sales.
