Floor covering installers primarily engage in the installation and repair of floor coverings such as carpet, laminate, vinyl and wood floor coverings, linoleum flooring and floor tile. The installation, repair and/or refinishing of flooring is done in residential, commercial and/or industrial settings.Floor covering installers are responsible for preparing the floor for the new product, measuring the flooring, cutting and installing the flooring. A variety of hand tools may be used depending on the type of flooring installed. Tools may include saws, tile cutters, knifes, carpet stretchers, knee kickers, staple guns, air nailers, drills, trowels and hammers.
