Operational Details
Union and Association delegates are full time employees of the company, but are elected by the membership to represent the workers. This may include contract negotiations, labour disputes, grievances, and appeals.
Many of the meetings are held after hours, away from the workplace, and usually on weekends. In the case of conventions, it may mean attending meetings in another town, city, or out of province. With the amount of travel and after hours meetings, delegates often require coverage to protect their own interests.
Because the activity is not normally under the Act, voluntary coverage must be applied for and in force before an accident claim would be accepted.
