Operational Details
The process begins with purchasing flavoured concentrates to mix with carbonated water to produce the desired soft drink flavour.
The manufacturing of soft drinks is an automated process, to a large degree, requiring little operator intervention. Empty bottles, cans or containers are loaded onto a conveyor system which proceeds along the way to critical points where the concentrate, which has been premixed in a large enclosed vat or tank, is poured into the respective containers. They are then imprinted, labeled, or coated, to identify the contents and its size etc.
Workers include warehouse workers, who off load products for the manufacturing process, supervisors, who oversee the manufacturing process, mixing personnel (even though computerized, exacting formulas are used and maintained by trained staff), assembly line workers, shippers who place the product onto trucks for delivery to market, plus marketing or sales personnel and administrative staff.
Large soft drink companies such as Pepsi and Coca-Cola may also market their product and use their own transportation for delivery, which is considered part of the overall industry being conducted.
