Manpower service employers provide short-term, temporary, project-based or permanent staff to third party clients who require physical or manual labour related services. Industrial, trade or general labour is provided to companies in various industries to fulfill a long or short-term need.

The major reason for companies hiring manpower workers is the fact that workers, while under their direction and control, belong to the manpower company and it is they who pay the wages and benefits. The advantages are that companies who have peak and valley operations can hire temporary staff without being concerned about laying off staff, having either labour problems with a union or association, or be put in the position of paying benefits for workers they no longer need. It also helps in long range planning on the basis that the holiday season allows companies to hire temporary workers with equivalent qualifications and expertise.
