Operational Details
Pest controllers and fumigators inspect buildings and outside areas for pest infestations and spray chemical treatments to kill noxious and destructive insects, rodents, and other pests. They set traps to capture and remove animals.

Inspections may be made at regular intervals or on a seasonal basis when pests are most apt to be present. Pest controllers determine the type of treatment required to get rid of the pests and provide an estimate for the client. Once a price has been agreed upon, chemicals are prepared and sprayed by mechanical or electric sprayers in the areas pests are inhabiting. It may involve the removal of the dead rodents or insects. This is usually accomplished using masks, gloves and protective clothing to avoid contact with the feces or diseased carcasses.

Animal control barriers are also installed to avoid repeat problems and it may mean installing needle strips, netting, metal flashing, or other barriers to keep the animals off the property.
