Description

Operational Details
Initially, railroad construction begins with clearing right-of-ways along survey lines and grading, banking, and setting gravel beds in place so that rails and railroad ties can be put in place. Some blasting might be required so that the track can be laid down along rock escarpments, etc. The railroad ties or timber used to hold the steel rails are transported and stacked at intervals along the right-of -way. Some bridge construction is also involved and may include using, or subcontracting a pile driver and operator to put pilings in place.

Railroad construction involves using power shovels, earth moving equipment and specialized carriers that can take up or lay rail road tracks.
