Operational Details
Cathodic protection includes digging a trench leading to the pipeline and attaching anodes to wires on the pipe section being measured. A positive charge is sent through the anodes, which counteracts the negative charge in the pipe.
This service is provided as a means to prevent corrosive action inside the pipeline. Negative charges come about as the result of oil flowing through the pipeline. This is a field service and includes the use of a service truck, digging tools, and occasionally a backhoe may be contracted, and hand tools, along with the cathodic instruments and equipment.
