Description

Operational Details
Liquor stores sell alcohol for off-premise consumption. The majority of the retailers in SK are privately owned and operated. The Government currently operates a small percentage of the overall retailers in SK.

Activities in this industry include receiving shipments. Usually by truck, or in some cases by rail, and the product is off loaded onto a conveyor system and stored in either a warehouse facility nearby, or in the back of the retail store. In addition to shipping and receiving, employees stock shelves, assist the customer with their selection, and operate a till. Security is important in this business as liquor stores are prone to threats and robberies due to large sums of cash on hand and the product being sold.
Liquor stores will also sell mixes for alcoholic beverages, beer and wine making supplies, and in some cases, will sell some confectionary items, glassware, gift bags etc...

Beer and Wine stores will only sell these products.

Beer and Wine making suppliers sell wine, beer and brew kits.

All liquor licenses are issued by the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA)
