Operational Details
A florist, or flower shop is in the business to sell flowers, which are brought in from various growers and suppliers. They are then cut to the appropriate size, bundled and placed in refrigerated cabinets or in a cool room until ready for sale. The florist may also make flower arrangements, pot plants, and sell flower pots and accessories, balloons and other party items as supportive to the overall business of selling flowers.
Most flowers sold are fresh, however, the flower shop operator may also make dry arrangements and rent out balloons and plastic flowers for weddings and other special events.
Some supermarkets or corner store sell flowers as well, but on a limited basis, and in small quantities.
