Description

Operational Details
Acoustical ceiling installers are contracted to provide a ceiling that is sound proofed. It can be applied by installing 12" x 12", 2' x 4' or larger fiberglass or compressed paper, or egg crate type materials that insulates the ceiling. Moveable Scaffolds or ladders are used to hoist the product into place and it is then either installed in metal tracks that have been pre-installed through the use of laying lengths of metal at predetermined measurements throughout the ceiling area. Then the ceiling material is friction fitted into the slots provided for it. Otherwise, the material may be glued, screwed or nailed into place. In some cases, the material may be extended downwards from the ceiling to a predetermined measurement on an adjacent wall. In general, acoustical material is prefinished. The material may also have a fire retardant value. Hand tools and staplers may be used to install the ceiling products and the metal studs and partition systems.

Employers who renovate residential homes and other buildings, are primarily responsible for home improvements, such as, building extensions i.e. sunrooms, maintenance, remodeling and repairs. Employers may also provide disaster recovery such as, fire and flood restoration.
Employers install moveable walls/partitions used for work stations, or offices where privacy may be an issue. Moveable partitions may be pre-assembled and be self-contained without the need for assembly. Others have components that require assembly on site. Still others, require the use of metal studs to hang vinyl clad, cloth or paper clad, materials to drywall, which is then screwed into place, with snap lines to cover the screws. The advantage of this system is that it is re-useable, whereas drywall that is installed on wooden studs takes a great deal more time to install and is not reusable.
A Handyman is a person skilled at a wide range of repairs and maintenance jobs, such as, carpentry, drywalling, painting etc... A handyman is typically employed to do residential home work.
Carpenters, are skilled in their trade; and cut shape and install wood product such as, doors, baseboard and trim. Carpenters may also install kitchens and other cabinets.
