Lawn maintenance involves the developing and maintaining of aesthetically pleasing surroundings on a property on which buildings, parkland, or recreational areas exist. Tools commonly used are hand operated such as: lawn mowers, trimers, aerators, roto tillers, seeders, leaf blowers, rakes, hoes and shovels. Lawn maintenance includes, but is not limited to, cutting of grass, raking of leaves, fertilization, weed control, aeration and seeding.
Snow removal services included within this classification are those operations that use hand operated equipment like snowblowers, shovels and blowers to clear snow from sidewalks, driveways and small parking areas for private home owners or small commercial properties. Deicing may also be performed.
Garden tilling is used to cultivate soil which is done when one is preparing a new garden bed or maintaining an existing garden. Garden tillers may be hand held, electric or gas powered.
Horticultural activities include the preparation and maintenance of flower and/or vegetable gardens, shrubbery, trees and ornamental ground coverings.
