This year, we will go back to our Compensation Institute roots with a platform for Saskatchewan workers and employers to discuss WCB processes, policy and procedures and to support them in navigating the workers’ compensation system. Also new this year, we will be shortening the length of the conference to one day only, which will be held in Regina at the Conexus Arts Centre.

We want to do our part to protect our environment and that is why Compensation Institute is a paperless event. Please feel free to bring your laptop or mobile device to access speaker presentations. Free WiFi and charging stations are provided.

Steve Howe, with over 18 years of experience in the construction industry, has first-hand knowledge of the daily hazards faced by workers and the prevalent perception of safety as a hindrance.

In 2006, while working as a young tree faller on the Sea to Sky Highway project in British Columbia, Steve experienced a life-altering injury.

Despite sensing something amiss that morning, Steve, like many others, pressed on to complete the task. Regrettably, this decision led to him being struck by an excavator bucket through his abdomen and dragged for several feet, marking the beginning of a significantly changed life.

Initially told he would never walk again, Steve confronted immense challenges. However, during his hospitalization, he found the strength and determination to challenge his prognosis, firmly believing in the power of personal agency to shape destiny.
